The “Discarded” Military Flu Shot Mandate: A Pseudo-Event Exemplar
Jessica Hockett, PhD
A longtime reader sent me an email last week about the military flu shot requirement. I’ve reproduced the exchange below, with the reader’s permission:
From the first article: “The War Department confirmed to multiple outlets that all military boot camps are once again requiring flu shots for incoming recruits, a decision that comes as an influenza outbreak at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland has grown to about 275 confirmed cases.”
Hegseth announced a policy of no department-wide mandate two months ago, on social media (maybe you saw–I didn’t), when he said “your body, your faith and your convictions are not negotiable.”
This is a piece of support for your theory.
Hockett Response:
Thank you for this notice.
I did see Secretary Hegseth’s announcement in April and mentioned it in passing to a colleague because I considered it fake.
The War Department is once again restoring freedom to our Joint Force.
We are discarding the mandatory flu vaccine requirement, effective immediately. pic.twitter.com/9K5W8g0NsD

I decided against drawing attention to it at the time because of the fake-ness and because, consistent with what Katherine Watt and I talked about in our recorded conversation, I am trying to refrain from writing about every performative activity, false flag, limited hangout, or dissident PSY-OP that enters the news cycle. I also didn’t have the band-with to prioritize researching the vapid term Hesgeth used that alerted me to the fakery: “discard”. Moreover, the injections were still being offered, despite the fact that the US government knowing they can only ever be harmful.
I still have not researched whether “discarding” means anything legally, but for me, the announcement meant, “We are pretending to abandon this particular version of this particular practice at this particular time.”
In no way did I interpret it to be a move with actual legal weight or longevity, to be a permanent rescinding of a mandate, or anything to celebrate. It was, in Boorstin’s terms,a pseudo-event or PR stunt.
I am not at all surprised that an “outbreak” has been staged in order to justify re-instatement of that which was never truly ended and that the Trump administration, Congress, and courts have no intention or desire to end.
I agree that this latest move supports my “COVID is a Flu Shot Op” theory. Many of the ongong actions/inactions/statements/non-statements/mis-statements of various COVID Dissident players do as well.
We have a long way to go. Military personnel should practice self-defense and fight this mandate TOGETHER with every fiber of their being.
Exemptions are NOT the solution. The injections should not be required or offered to anyone.
Reader:
I’d guess the military is re-establishing the flu mandate and others incrementally, with no fanfare, probably starting with sites such as boot camps that are the most prison-like, after making a big show of standing for “bodily autonomy.”
Yes, the empty pseudo-event conflicts with the actual event.
Hockett:
I agree with your “guess” and commend the astute observation about the (mis)use of the captive boot-camp populations.
I would add universal seasonal respiratory shot (One Shot to Rule Them All) is still the goal. We’ve also got a literal “one ring” health monitor on the market and now being sold in places like Target: https://ouraring.com/
Then there’s this NIH project, which would seem to be an outgrowth of mass data collection via PCR testing https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/30/science/nih-announces-worlds-largest-integrated-health-database.html, and was predictable from statements like those made by University of Illinois president Tim Killeen — basically, destroy the specimens; keep the data. (“Leave the gun, take the cannoli” is coming to mind…)
